Information Updated 09-12-08
Ride height is the measurement to properly inflate the air bags on your coach's suspension. Proper ride height will make for a better ride, better cornering and handling. It is essential for proper wheel alignment and drive line alignment to maximize tire and chassis wear.
Your Ride Height must be set BEFORE your wheel alignment is done!
Where to measure and what the measurement should be has evolved over time with newer and different suspension systems. This is an attempt to provide you with the key data so you can determine if your chassis needs a ride height adjustment.
It is NOT recommended to try and adjust your own chassis as loosening the ride height control valves could result in the chassis dropping down and crushing you if you are in the wrong place!
Any adjustments should be done by an authorized dealer or other qualified service shop with the proper tools.
Helpful Hint - Once you have your chassis Ride Height set correctly, you can develop a quick reference measurement. IF your chassis is set correctly and parked on level pavement, take a tape measure and measure at each wheel center line, from the ground to your floor trim strip! Record this measurement. Later, this will give you a quick way to see if your ride height is out of spec!
Another idea from our VP Bill Buck...cut a length of wooden dowel rod to the correct length and use that to check measurements...may be easier to find your 'measuring stick' than find that piece of paper with the numbers on it...thanks, Bill.
XC Chassis Ride Height Data
Since the ride height specifications vary based on model year, axle, and suspension call the FCCC Hotline at 1 - (800) 385-4357 with your chassis VIN to get the data for your chassis.

ZF IFS Ride Height Measurement * Note lower flange is not flat and has a partial cup on one side and is a little hard to get your ruler down in there to get a good measurement. What is showing in the photo is the lower bottom washer...the flange is above that, in right photo.
