Information on this page contains information regarding Field Service Campaigns and Safety Recalls issued by Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation (FCCC) over the last couple of years.  

There have been several questions asking what is the difference between a Field Service Campaign and a Safety Recall.  Here is a short explanation of the differences between the two:

Field Service Campaign – A manufacture conducts a field service campaign when it has discovered a problem with a motor home that it would like to correct but that problem will not cause the vehicle to be unsafe to operate.  Field service campaigns are designated by an “SF” in the number of the campaign.

Recall Campaign – A manufacturer conducts a recall campaign when it has determined that the motor home either; does not comply with a one or more of the applicable regulations; or has a problem that if not corrected could make the motor home unsafe to operate.  Recalls generally do not have an expiration date.  FCCC recall campaigns are designated by an “FL” in the number of the campaign.

FL-530	July 1, 2007 Oct 9, 2007	08V269	XC Chassis equipped with ADL series rear suspension - SAF Holland transverse beam weld may be improperly located on ADL and ADLSD suspensions allowing the transverse beam to separate from the suspension casting.   Suspension system will be visually inspected to ensure proper placement of weld. Suspension components with improperly located weld will be replaced.    This information is based on a notice recently filed with NHTSA.  This posting will be updated as more information becomes available.
FL-521AB	Jan. 1, 2007 Nov. 19, 2007	08V029	Air Disc Brake Caliper Bolts - Standard fasteners may have been used instead of metric fasteners.  Incorrect fasteners may not provide adequate clamping forces.
FL-517A	Feb. 14, 2005 May 17, 2006	07V570	XC Chassis Power steering filters - The inline power steering filter may become plugged causing a rise in return line pressure and possible line rupture.  This may result in a sudden loss of power steering fluid and power assist.
FL- 509A-C	Jun. 13, 2003 Jun 13, 2007	07V343	ZF-IFS 8018 Steering Gears - Certain vehicles equipped with ZF-IFS model 8018 steering gears may have been assembled with the incorrect recirculating ball spacer.  This may allow the recirculating balls to escape their circuit.  This may result in loss of steering.
FL- 504A-H	Aug. 13, 2002 Jun. 15, 2007	07V302	Bendix SR-7 Park Brake Valves - The affected park brake valves may allow air to leak causing a delay in the application of the parking brake and the vehicle may roll away.
FL- 501AB	Jan. 5, 2007 May 17, 2007	07V306	AAC Front Axle Tie Rod and Steering Arm Fasteners - During front axle assembly, the fasteners that attach the steering arms or tie rod to the spindle may have been over or under tightened.  Incorrectly tightened fasteners may fatigue and fracture, resulting in a possible crash.
FL- 483A	Apr. 4, 2005 Oct 13, 2005	06V423	XC Chassis w/TRW AS120 suspension and 12,000 lb front axel - Front Axle Tie Rod Thread Engagement - Certain vehicles may have been manufactured with tie rod ends that are too short for the axle assembly.  Tie rod ends may separate under certain conditions resulting in reduced steering control.
FL - 467A-F	Sept. 6, 2005 Oct. 20, 2005	05V551	XC Chassis - AAC Front Axle I-Beam - A forging defect in the top flange of certain I-beams may cause fatigue and fracture, resulting in a possible loss of control.
FL- 460A	May 20, 2005 Oct. 27, 2005	05V467	XC Chassis - ArvinMeritor Rear Axle Spindles - Certain rear axle housings on ArvinMeritor and Axle Alliance Company axles were manufactured with spindles that were overheated during the heat treatment process.  Incorrectly heated spindles could fracture resulting in a possible crash.
